fire broke out this morning abt 8.30am, at blk k, k-5-1, foreigners hostel.
some report for our residents...
1) Deva the committee member got the phone call from resident, rush to the scene, few residents already there, then at the same time bomba firemen also arrived.
2) tenants are not at home, so firemen broke the padlock, open the grill door & wooden door, found fire at 2nd room, then used water from the toilet to put it off. more residents ,committee members & reporter gathered there during this time.
3) Firemen tested the bomba riser room hose reel, found no water. some residents grumbling why no water supply....
4) Jeffery the MC member explained to residents & reporter that our pump is working but set to MANUAL mode, which means need to be ON manually at blk j pump room, but as the committee members arrived the fire oredi gone, so no one ON it.
5) he further explained that we can't set it to AUTO mode cause in the past the hose reel head always missing, if we set it to AUTO then the water will burst from riser room with the absence of hose reel, & will cause major jam to both lift. (remember the incident before last chinese new year?)
6) Deva locked the hostel door coz the foreigners are not yet back, then after TNB technician came investigate, found out it started from the cheap extension wire.
as we look at this case, few thoughts come to our mind,
- must form our ERT (emergency rescue team) as soon as possible to attend to cases like this.
- residents must have common sense not to steal things from TNB & Bomba riser room, we always got reports from residents that TNB meter fuse gone missing, for the thefts break the padlock & steal it.
- for the case of bomba hose reel, we did replace the missing unit few times & locked the door, but itchy hand fella still break the lock & steal it, happen few times since last year, it explains why we CAN'T set the pump to AUTO mode.
- will put the petition at the guard house or office to ask residents to sign, purpose is to ask those landlord stop renting out the unit as foreigners hostel.
- will need to make sure all the guards know what to do (especially ON the pump) when fire happen, we hv taught some of old staffs, but overlook the new guys, our fault, sorry for that.
- may need to hire 2 well-trained guards each shift if can afford, so that we will have enough ppl to handle emergency cases, like this case, only one guard was around, & the management office not yet open, too risky.
- will get the fire contractor to check again our system, to upgrade it if needed.
- will arrange fire drill, if possible next month.
write to us if u got any suggestion.

We celebrate Christmas eve with a small fire! People say this is "ong". ;-)
Let's take this positively. This is just a small alert from God to remind us to be mindful with our safety.
I think the actions listed down are very much apropriate...... and yes, all our guards should be well trained as part of the ERT during emergency. This is a must.
Anyway, its good tht we manage to keep the fire off.. Just one thing on my mind.. Is there any possibilities for us to set alarm? I am at home tht time.. Me n my neighbour don't know anything until i heard some noise. Tht time we walk down to level 5. The fire is alrd off..
Hi residents we should thank to all our MC members for guide us and safe us, of course for firemen too. I didn't see in my life thats kind of unity on our MC. This MC really show thier responesibility for care for vista condo.
How come i didn't see Mr.Cheng?
I heard from residents some negative point for the bomba water? but when i get some info from MC, its true too, last time & recently missing some parts too.
I hope infuture our residents own steel anything from the bomba riser room.
Mr.Deva try to solve the problem between reporter & community police guy, between them misunderstanding but please lah guys don't call the CP to our place because i think they creating problem.I hope you all understand.
Vista condo MC is BEST.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
hi,
1) we will certainly put the alarm or buzzer at the guard house soon to alert residents when it's fire.
2) ERT should be formed soon, we plan to call a first meeting this coming week to invite residents to join the ERT, will train guard & supervisor as well.
3) concerning the comment "no water" as explained in the blog, it's due to MANUAL mode, we can't stop residents from giving negative response, but somehow they need to do their part, such as if they see someone steal things, will they hv enough courage to be a witness? many time we heard residents said abt theft but as we plan to make report, they r not willing to be witness, at the end nothing much can be done.
4) the nice thing abt our MC is, it's not jz relying on few person only, even without chairman or treasurer or secretary around, the show will still go on. for info, when the fire happen, Deva, Tan, Siknee & Jeffery were there helping up, whereas Cheng, Hassan & Ang were in their work place as they also working on Saturday. so no problem as all of MC members know what to do when situation like this happen.
5) by the way, who called the CP to come in? actually according to our house rules they suppose to get clearance for entrance, we will talk to guard supervisor for this.
6) pls wait for notice concerning ERT meeting, signing petition, alarm...
thanks.
Hi,
I am a previous J block parcel owner and I sold my house a year ago....my new management over there, sigh.... hopeless but still I need to pay RM225/month for the common facilities..... nothing been done but just to collect the monthly charges....
During the Christmas meet up a day ago, my vista neighbor told me that you guys are doing so well there recently...... ask me to read on your blog....well, I just like a kind of "eng siu" my friend and have a read on it..... my, my, my..... its really an interesting
blog to look at..... there were a lots of articles, events, comments and suggestions on blog.
You guys really work all out for the benefit of all the residents there.....I am really proud of the MC team and regrets if I still have 1 unit over there...
I could see the unity of the team members and the works that been carried out as what being mentioned in the blog....its really impressed me and my wife too.... like a professionals that could able to handle all aspects of works.... I believed you guys will definitely have some field concerned member involved in the team right????
Another thing tough, I could observed there were a good communication flows from MC team towards the residents and vice-versa. This is a very healthy way of getting residents to participate on this kind of dialogues and could understand whats their needs and problems. Many updates like even a sinking fund also published in the block.
Keep up the good works, guys..... I believed you guys are among a few best Management Corporation that could compared with the existing renounce Real Management Companies in Penang already....
May you guys could always keep this stamina at all times.... and all obstacles could be easily overcome..... in future...
Thanks and God Blessed
Hi MC,
Don't get me wrong because usually i will see Mr. Cheng & the team will help but this time i didn't see him, that why? I know you guys you all damn good.
Ya, i see few MC memebers helping the firemen. It's personal thank to every one.
On the days it's self i see indian guy checking all the riser room bomba nozel, i see him at teluk kumbar flat too, he is helping there also. I know him very well, few places he taking care also. I wanted to tell him about this matter and asking his help but he is here. My mom staying at teluk kumbar flat.
Mr. Cheng & team please count me in ERT team. I will give full support.
hi,
thanks for all the kind compliment & encouragement...
John Maxwell the leadership expert once said, encouragement is like oxygen, i think it has so much truth in it, especially for the MC to continue to serve our vista residents, so again, thanks a lot.
our hearts were also encouraged once we see things improved in vista condo, but sometimes can become impatient too as we see a lot more things need to be improved but still not happening, such as water tank lining, T&G for lift & motorbike, painting of building, swimming pool, gym, blah blah blah...as the list grow longer, we get frustrated too..., we can't do much on it now due to limitation of fund & manpower, so we hope residents can understand the situation.
we told our MC guys, one thing at a time, sikit sikit lama jadi bukit, so perhaps, one year down the road as we look back again, our heart will feel greater joy as we see more improvement in the mentioned area..., may God bless the work of our hands.
thanks.
This is definately a warm Christmas with such lovely resident & wonderful MC in Vista Condo.
I feel like want to give our MC a big hug!! ;-)
KK.....too much of snazzy not gud for health!!!!
